God is the BEST shopping buddy!

I really mean it! Since today was the last day for tax-free shopping this weekend, I went shopping in search of a new pair of running shoes. I had a 20% off coupon at Sports Seasons, so I went there first. I found an AWESOME shoe, but they didn't have my size. I went to EVERY store possible in the Rivergate shopping area.....but no shoes. I was a little discouraged b/c I really wanted to save as much money as possible.

So........I got online tonight. I found my shoes $15 dollars cheaper than what I would have paid in the store today. THEN....before I checked out, I Googled a coupon code for See Jane Run Sports store. I found a $20 off coupon!!!!!! I got my shoes (with shipping and NO tax) for $70.00! I can't wait to get them!!! God is soooooooooo good! He knew exactly where I needed to get these Asics Gel-DS Trainer 13 shoes at a GREAT price! I KNOW God loves a bargain!!!!

Mack Truck

It's been years since I've felt like I've been hit by a Mack truck. This cold came on fast and furious! Yesterday was awful. I stayed in bed ALL day. I couldn't move, couldn't think, couldn't eat b/c I couldn't taste, couldn't sleep b/c I couldn't relax. Ugh!

Thank goodness for the Food Network and Facebook. I watched way too much t.v., and I've totally gotten into the Facebook community! (Not like I needed another thing on the computer to pull at my attention.)

Are you on Facebook?

Ick! I'm sick!

I made it through fall and winter without ANY kind of sickness....not even a sniffle! For some strange reason, now that it's 80 degrees outside, I have come down with some nasty cold or sinus thing. Ugh! I think I'm on the verge of losing my voice too. Thought it was just allergies at first, but now I'm seeing the same symptoms in my kids. Fun, fun. I'd really appreciate your prayers for everyone to be well!!!!

Earthquake!?!?!?!

Can you believe it? Early this morning, I woke up to the house rattling, bed vibrating, and a low rumbling noise. In my sleepy stupor, I thought, "An earthquake?" Yep! We felt the 5.2 earthquake centered in Illinois!

It brought back memories of Jr. High School. At that time, geologists had "predicted" the New Madrid fault was going to blow and the world would end. Okay.....maybe they didn't predict the end of the world, but they sure did create a bunch of hype! If I remember correctly, they said that Memphis would be leveled, the Old Hickory Dam in Hermitage would burst, buildings would crumble, and thousands would be killed. We even had earthquake drills at school; we had to climb under our desks. (I still don't see how a school desk would protect me from several floors collapsing on top of me.)

I'm glad God is chief geologist......master of plate tectonics! He ALONE is my shelter! I will not live in fear of what "could" happen in this world.

A New Bierman!

(no way.....it's not what you think. I am NOT pregnant! =0)

Nathan (Denver's brother) and Kelly McNair are ENGAGED!!!!!!!! Whoo Hoo!!! We are so excited that Kelly will soon be joining the Bierman family (officially)!!!!!

We love you Nay-Nay and Kay-Kay!!!! We are sooooo excited for you!

How is it.....

.....that my almost-6-month-old daughter always misses the bib AND the burp cloth when she "spits up"? The certainties of life, I guess. =0)

Idol Gives Back

I am just now watching Idol Gives Back. Wow........I am always so moved by the stories of those around the world who live in such horrible circumstances and suffer so much. It breaks my heart. I am reminded that it breaks the heart of God even more. This is never what He intended for His creation.......

Thankfully, we can follow the heart of God and HELP those who are in need. I am not talking about our kind of "need." For example, right now our family "needs" a minivan to make our trips as a family more comfortable. When I compare our (and your) types of needs to REAL needs....I am burdened and hurt for those who truly live in perpetual need.

I would like to challenge you to GIVE to those in need. PLEASE consider sponsoring a child through Compassion International. Our family sponsors two kids and Denver's band (DMHO) is a representative for Compassion. It is only $32 a month.....and it changes lives and shares true hope.....Jesus. We've been to Ecuador to visit one of our kids and see Compassion in action. It is sooooooooo legitimate. Please, Please, Please........consider it.

Yep Ma'am!

Boston and I were enjoying our yummy breakfast - Banana's Foster French Toast (Thanks Paula Dean!!!!). He finished his first serving, so I asked him if he'd like more. He said, "Yep!" Trying to instill southern manners, I said, "Boston, please say 'Yes Ma'am.'" He looked at me with a sweet smile and said, "Yep Ma'am."

So sweet.

Hello old friend!

I did it! I actually got on my treadmill this morning for 30 minutes. As planned, I did the walk/run strategy. After the first ten minutes, I thought...."This isn't so bad! I can do more than I thought!" Then......my muscles began to mock me. It's been over a year since I've intentionally exercised. I was hoping "muscle memory" would help me out, but I think my muscles have forgotten what it's like to be in constant motion!

Two miles later, I feel good. I even did a few crunches and push-ups before my son started yelling, "Mommy, you done yet??????"

I have set a goal. I want to RUN the 5K at the Blueberry Festival this fall on Labor Day weekend!!!!!!!! Hold me to it!!!!!

So, hello old friend.......my dear treadmill. Your resting days are over!

Monday! RUN-day!

I sit here staring at my treadmill. Tomorrow.....Monday morning......we will meet again after many long months of estrangement. Hope "he" is kind to me. Gonna try the run one minute/walk four minutes plan. I'll let you know how my "run" goes.

I'm trying to think of a name for my trusty old treadmill. Got any suggestions???

Meals for the Robertson family

If you are interested in taking a meal to Matt and Heather Robertson's family, please let me know ASAP. I will contact you and set up a meal schedule for them.

Thanks for helping them out!

Treadmill or Road

Do you like running on the treadmill or out on the road? Why?

Running......

My husband and TONS of my friends run......and love it. (The "loving it" part bewilders me.) I have never been a runner. I take that back....in 3rd grade I won a blue ribbon for winning the 50 yard dash. Guess that doesn't count.

My point......I have tried to start running a million times. I always end up quiting. I have never enjoyed the panting and pain that comes from struggling to run. I've never experienced the "runner's high." I don't "love" it like my husband and friends. HOWEVER.....I do love how it kicks your body into shape and really helps your all-around health.

So...........here I go again. After two kids and being really out of shape........I am going to try again.

Runners - please pass along any tips you have. Also, please hold me accountable in this never-ending endeavor.
